After I made this Chad said that it looked like I was announcing his stats before a boxing match! Not that I ever want my adorable son to get in a fight, especially not one that he choose to enter. His face is too beautiful to mess up! I could go on and on but I think you get the point. I do want to remember his "stats" from the day that he was born though. I saw this super cute idea on pinterest and tweaked it a little to make it my own.
It was easy to make. I purchased the same shadow box from Hobby Lobby (when they were 50% off) that I used for his outfit, and had Chad paint it the same color. If I wasn't putting it next to his other shadow box I would have put this in a regular picture frame. I lined the back of the box with the same gold scrapbook paper and then I layered the blue paper that matched.
Then I simply used Microsoft Word to make his sheet of information that I wanted to remember. The blog that I originally got my idea from explains this much better than I could, so go check out Markham Street Design to read Laura's instructions (she has tons of other really cute ideas, so you may get lost in her site for hours, sorry). For the colors I used gold and blue to go along with the rest of his nursery, but you can use three or more colors if you want. I have his name, date he was born, weight + height, time and location. You can fill it with whatever information you want to remember. I've seen some that have a small map of the location that the baby was born. Think outside the box (no pun intended) and you'll be proud of your creation. My friend just had a baby and I think I'm going to make her a stat sheet for her son. I don't know what color she has for the nursery so I'm just going to use blue and then a few neutral colors that will go with anything. I love DIY gifts when I get them. It shows the time and thought that someone went into just for you. Don't get me wrong though, I also love gifts from Macy's, Dillard's, New York & Co., and Tiffany's. Really anywhere that accepts cash, check or any major credit card! But DIY is very special!
