Back to School Parties

I can't believe July is coming to an end; where has the time gone!? All this means is school is right around the corner (woo hoo!) The start of school is always an exciting time in the lives of children so just like any exciting calls for a celebration!

There are several ways you can go about honoring your child's first day back at school. When I was growing up, my parents would always fix up a huge breakfast for my brother and I on our first day back. I'm talking huge. We loved it! Every yummy breakfast food you could think of was prepared in celebration for another year of making good grades and making new friends. This simple gesture meant the world to us, and I'm sure it will to your kiddos too! Have an all-star breakfast and let them pick out the items on the menu...even if it's only chocolate-glazed donuts. :)

If you want to go a little bigger, invite your child's friends over for a small party.  This doesn't have to be expensive or extravagant! When decorating, the best thing to do is use school supplies that you already own. Grab markers, crayons, rulers, glue sticks, and other items and be creative! Another fun idea is to use paper tablecloths so the kids can draw while sitting at the tables--how cool! You can go with a theme if you'd like, such as apples or ABCs (incorporating the three primary colors: red, blue and yellow.)

Who says the kids are the only ones who should celebrate going back to school? Moms deserve to, too! Invite fellow moms over for coffee after they drop the kids off by giving them a Starbucks cup with an invite attached. You all can laugh and chat about how nice the quiet is!
