Battling Those Dropping Temperatures

Does anyone else feel like we went straight from summer to winter? My favorite season is definitely fall, with the colorful leaves, flannels, and pumpkins. Fall also plays a vital role in preparing me for the cold days that winter will bring. However, I feel as if I have received no preparation this year, and that's just not okay in my book.

As a result, I've had to get creative when it comes to staying warm. When you have to bundle up under 3 blankets to sleep in the summer, you really have to resort to ulterior motives in the winter. These are some of my solutions for staying warm, brought to you through some of the best gifs out there.

#1: Bundle up when preparing to enter the outdoors:

Now this one probably seems pretty obvious. However, some people don't realize that this is a necessary first step. Just today for example, the high is 53 degrees and I saw someone wearing shorts and a t-shirt outside my window. Additionally, while many do remember to put on their coat before heading out the door, a lot forget to cover their extremities, such as noses, ears, and hands. These are the first things to get cold so you better make sure they're covered before venturing too far.

#2: Stay inside whenever possible

If you don't have to venture outside, don't. It's just as simple as that. Or, if you do have to, get back inside as soon as possible. That wind chill is no joke, believe me.

#3: Cuddle with another whenever possible

Winter is the season for cuddling. Whether that be with a person or a pet is up to you. Either way, you are sharing body heat, keeping both of you warmer than you would otherwise be.

#4: Keep that fire going

Fires are a great solution during the winter months. For the indoors, it can be a cost-efficient alternative to using your heater. But also, if you need to be outside for an extended amount of time, I would recommend building a fire and keeping that thing roaring. You're going to need it. It also wouldn't hurt to drink a nice warm drink while you're at it!

#5: Make sure you use a lot of blankets (and I mean a lot)

The more blankets the merrier, am I right? Quick disclaimer though: this makes it very hard to get out of bed in the mornings. Beware!

#6: You better watch where you step

While it isn't here yet, the snow is bound to come. When it does, be prepared. You don't want to end up like this dog.

The cold is here! Be prepared and stay warm out there you guys!

P.S.: Let me know if you have any great solutions to staying warm. I would love to hear them!
